Sundown Social Auction: A Texas Beauty

texas flags.NecklaceShow your Texas pride with these unique glass necklaces.  In addition to the present day Texas flag, the other is the Dodson flag. The Dodson flag was flown over Washington on the Brazos during the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence.  Both are handmade using a Fuseworks kiln.

Handmade especially for you by Melissa McCaghren, a local resident, award winning photographer and jewelry maker. The flags are fused glass pendants that were created using a white base sheet of 96 COE fusible glass, with added red, blue and clear glasses to create the stripes and banner. A clear glass top sheet covers all three strips and a star is made out of crushed glass frit. The glass is then put in a Fuseworks Kiln that goes into the microwave. After fusing, they are left to cool for an hour before the bail is glued on. Miss McCaghren was given the challenge to create the Texas flag a few years ago and continues to work on making other fused glass flag pendants based on the historical flags of Texas, such as the Dodson flag. Her other works include a fused glass bluebonnet, Indian paintbrush, cotton boll and more traditional fused glass and diachronic glass pieces.

Compliment it with a beautiful silk scarf imprinted with running horses, a Texas purse and a petite red leather bracelet with star.
