Anson Jones wrote in his account ledger on Dec. 31, 1845 – “… 4 yoke of oxen & wagons ($200)…” As the main vehicles for hauling farm goods, the wagons at Barrington would be painted regularly to protect the wood as well as give them a bit of style.
