Sundown Social Auction: Finding Grandma

texas flags.Necklace

Family Tree
Find great Grandma and your ancestors. Shelby Rowan will donate ten hours of work to you but, for a $1,000 donation to Washington on the Brazos, she will give you 40 hours of research! You need to have at least two generations before you that lived in America. Expires April 30, 2017.

Show your Texas pride with this unique glass necklace with the Texas flag. Handmade especially for you by Melissa McCaghren, a local resident, award winning photographer and jewelry maker. The Texas flag is a fused glass pendant that was created using a white base sheet of 96 COE fusible glass, with added red, blue and clear glasses to create the stripes and banner. A clear glass top sheet covers all three strips and a star is made out of crushed glass grit. The glass is then put in a Fuseworks Kiln that goes into the microwave, and after fusing, is left to cool for an hour before the bail is glued on. Miss McCaghren was given the challenge to create the Texas flag a few years ago and continues to work on making other fused glass flag pendants based on the historical flags of Texas. Other works include a fused glass bluebonnet, Indian paintbrush, cotton boll and more traditional fused glass and diachronic glass pieces.
