Sewing a Flag: The Sarah Dodson Flag
09/16/2023, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Sarah Dodson contributed to the war effort of the Texas Revolution by sewing flags for militia units. Dodson’s flag was the first tri-color lone star flag of Texas, sewn for her husband’s Harrisburg militia unit in the fall of 1835. The Harrisburg Militia carried it into battle at the siege of Bexar, and it flew over the Convention of 1836 at Washington. Saturday, September, 16th, come see a period clothed interpreter sew a Dodson Flag, and take home your own mini version! This event will also feature demonstrations of Texian militia life.
