Join us on Labor Day for a special program across two sites!
Barrington Plantation and Fanthorp Inn are opening up on Labor Day Sep 2nd and giving visitors a chance to make history by voting in the Republic of Texas Presidential Election of 1844.
The final Presidential Election for the Republic of Texas took place on Sep 2, 1844. On the 180th anniversary of that event visitors can learn about the candidates for President which included Anson Jones and Kenneth Anderson and cast their vote in our replica ballot box. At the end of the day votes will be tallied from both of our polling stations and the results posted on our social media.
