Building the Town of Washington: A Trades Program
10/19/2024 - 10/20/2024, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
In 1833-34, the town of Washington was surveyed for the first time. Not long after, the first building, a small log cabin was erected. Over the next 20+ years Washington would grow into a prominent city of frame and brick houses. To build a city out of the virgin oak and cedar woods of the area, many different tradesmen were required. Join us and see how the town of Washington was constructed. You will see surveyors, blacksmithing, brick making, log and frame construction demos, and carpentry. “Buy” a town lot at a Washington Town Company auction, and then find where the actual lot was on the park grounds!
