Special Program-Corn: From Crib to Mattress and Meal

09/04/2021 - 09/05/2021, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Corn was the largest and most versatile crop grown at Barrington. Discover how various parts of the corn plant would be used across the farm according to Dr. Jones’ writings about his crop. Come see what enslaved cook Charity might have cooked with stoneground cornmeal in the kitchen at Barrington. Help stuff a mattress with new corn shucks on the porch, then head to the barn to pitch corn leaf fodder into the mow. This is a special program at Barrington.
