Sponsorship Opportunities

Texas Independence Day Celebration (closest weekend to March 2)
Juneteenth Heritage Celebration (weekend after June 19)

Both ongoing and special event sponsorships are integral to the mission of the Association. The ongoing sponsorship categories and the benefits to our sponsors are outlined on the Membership Benefits page. We also offer sponsorship opportunities for the Association’s two major special events held annually: Texas Independence Day Celebration and Juneteenth Heritage Celebration.

Texas Independence Day Celebration: Each year, the weeks leading up to the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence of Texas on March 2, 1836—known to Texas history buffs as the “Texas Independence Season”—provide great momentum to our goals of public awareness and education. “Texas Independence Day Celebration” is an annual two-day celebration the weekend closest to March 2, on the expansive 293-acre park grounds; in 2015 the event will occur on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1. The birthday celebration is attended by thousands, and features live music, food, traditional crafts, living history presentations, firing demonstrations, historical encampments and commemorative programs.

Juneteenth Heritage Program : The 2nd annual Juneteenth Heritage Celebration takes place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  152 years ago, Union general Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and made a declaration of freedom ending the bondage of approximately 250,000 enslaved men, women and children in Texas. Since that time “Juneteenth” has been celebrated and remembered by picnics, parades, family reunions, pageants, barbecues and games. Join us as we observe this important occasion by celebrating the rich African American heritage and culture of the Brazos Valley, past and present. This new program for Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park will include artifact exhibits, art displays, prominent guest speakers such as historians, former athletes and genealogists, living history buffalo soldiers and cowboys, church choir performances, food and more!

As a sponsor of either of these events, you gain exposure to its target markets through recognition in all our marketing materials for these signature events. We will be proactive in marketing you and your business or organization with quality advertising and public relations that provides added value for your investment. For additional information on how you can become a sponsor, please call 979.830.1824 or email: office@wheretexasbecametexas.org.
