About_Visitor_CenterThis state of the art facility is your gateway to Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site.

The visitor center is here to provide general information, but also offers a park information center to help orient you, we also offer a spacious, climate controlled environment where you can find restrooms, water fountains, and a place to relax as you prepare for your group’s arrival or just need a break. Don’t forget to check out the Washington Emporium Gift Shop and the Gallery of the Republic.

The gallery is a free interpretive center complete with interactive exhibits and original artifacts that highlight key events and Washington’s role in the birth of the Republic of Texas. Its outer walls allow visitors to look out over the park grounds while the rotunda in the Gallery’s center pays homage and recognition to the 59 men who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence here.

The Washington Emporium Gift Shop provides visitors with the opportunity to take home wonderful Texas-centric souvenirs such as t-shirts, caps, cups, magnets, postcards and wildflower seeds, as well as replica historical Texas maps, documents, and flags. A wide selection of Texas history books for adults and children, beautifully framed Texas maps and flags, jewelry and unique gift items made in Texas and the USA are available for your shopping pleasure. The gift shop also offers items such as snacks, drinks and Blue Bell ice cream for visitors to enjoy while at our site. The Washington Emporium Gift Shop, located inside the Visitor Center.


Public Hours

clock Open Daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Due to heavy construction traffic, areas west of Ferry Street are currently closed; starting May 27th, access to the Townsite (including Independence Hall), trails, Visitor Center and Visitor Center Parking Lot will close through October for visitor safety, with admission available only at the Barrington Living History Farm Wednesday-Sunday. Click here to see a current site map of closures. 

Admission Fees 

Tickets for the general public may be purchased at the Visitor Center.

Individual Tickets for all sites:

  • Adult $8
  • Senior/Veteran/Teacher/First Responder $7
  • Child (6-17) $5
  • Child (5 and under) Free
  • Family (2 adults & 1 child) $20, each additional child $1

Group Tour Tickets: 

  • School Group (per student): $2 per site or $5 for all three sites.
  • Adult Group (per person): $6 for all three sites.
