Slim, a Piney Woods ox, strikes a pose in front of Republic of Texas President Anson Jones Homestead at Barrington Living History Farm at Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site.
Fanthorp Inn in Anderson, Texas, 20 miles from Washington on the Brazos, is a wonderfully preserved 19th century Stagecoach Inn, that provided hospitality for many historical icons.
Independence Hall stands on the cornerstones of the original building, where the Republic of Texas was formed, and Where Texas Became Texas.
Star of the Republic Museum houses a collection of exhibits, artifacts and documents relative to the time Texas was a nation.
